Two Sunday's ago was Father's Day.

We didn't do a whole lot: went to church, I made french toast bake, which is becoming one of our favorites- recipe post coming soon.

Hawaii Fact- Ribbed Soda Cans

Have you guys always wondered why Hawaii is the only place in the world that has crazy ridges or on the top of thier soda cans? I have! What's even more weird is today, I realized that I had totally forgotten about this. Ribbed soda cans seem normal; I actually bought a SanPellegrino and thought for a second "that can looks weird".... There's actually a story behind this. I guess all soda cans used to look like this, but then in the 80's to reduce costs, can makers made a change in the design to use less raw materials. Hawaii only has one can making plant, and it was too expensive to change it over to the new way, so here we are 30 some years later with ribbed top cans. Plastic Play Kitchen Remodel

Our awesome friends gave us their old plastic play kitchen that their kids had outgrown. Soph was having a blast playing with it as is, but I wanted to make it a little nicer and try to restore it to its former glory. Not that it mattered, look how trashy the rest of our house was :( :( First we took it all apart- just using a screwdriver- nothing fancy. Then I painted all the pieces using this spray paint. No sanding or primer or anything. I tried to scrape off most of the dirt and old stickers, but some of the stickers were really stuck so I just painted over them, knowing that I wanted to do chalkboard paint and that would cover it. It was a huge mess for WEEKS while we waited for it to get nice and dry in our humid Kalae climate :( If you don't live on a mountain in Hawaii it should dry in a couple of hours. I wasn't sure what to do with the top. it took me forever to decide, I put it half way back together and just stare

Fazoli's Copycat Pizza Bake Spaghetti

This is a recipe I've been making for a long time and I couldn't seem to find it on Pinterest. I haven't been to a Fazoli's in 5+ years (#islandliving) and I'm pretty sure that the last time I did eat at one, Pizza Baked Spaghetti was already discontinued. I tend to make this different every time, but I've finally settled on a recipe that is consistently good. Recipe: 1/2 package spaghetti 1 egg 1/2 cup Parmesan 1T garlic salt 1/2 Cup milk 2 cups shredded white cheese divided (I like a mix of Monterrey Jack and Mozzarella) 1 jar PIZZA sauce (not marinara) Pepperoni (1/3 package more or less) It super simple. Boil Pasta until barely al dente (it will cook more later) While the noodles cook, add the egg, Parmesan, garlic salt and 1/2 cup shredded cheese to a pie pan. Mix together Add the al dente noodles Top with the jar of pizza sauce. Top that with the rest of the cheese. Top that with the pepperoni.
