Easy French Toast Bake

Here’s a super cheapskate mom hack that I do to eliminate food waste.

I keep all our bits of leftover bread in a ziploc in the freezer. Whenever it gets full I pick a weekend to make this French toast bake.

This bakes up soft and delicious, so it’s fine to combine all different types and pieces of bread. Crusts, heels, the extra bun from the kid who randomly refuses a bun, etc. anything!!

Recipe:
1 ziplock bag full of bread bits
9x13 pan

10 eggs
3-4cups milk
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
2tsp cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt

Topping:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup pecans

Butter a 9x13 dish. Cut up the bread to 1” (ish) cubes. Mix up the first set of ingredients and pour it over the bread bits.  You want the liquid level to be equal to 1/4” below the bread tops, but not submerged.

Mix up the topping. Crumble it over the top then bake on 350F for 40-50 min.

Enjoy!
