Strawberry Guava Jelly

This weekend I made some delicious Strawberry Guava Jelly with blackberries and apples. I read that you need the apples to add pectin, instead of using a bought thickener, so that's what I did and it worked great!

4 cups strawberry guava
2 cups blackberries
2 cups apples (2 medium apples)
8 cups water
3.75 cups sugar

Wash  Strawberry Guava and apples. Chop apples. Place all fruits in a pot. Add water. Boil until fruit is mushy.

Strain juice through a mesh sieve

Add sugar. (measure juice and add 3/4 cups sugar to every one cup of juice- should be about 5 cups of juice =3.75 cups sugar)

Boil until thick enough to stay on a frozen spoon.

Ladle into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch head space

Process in boiling water bath for 8 minutes.

4 cups of strawberry guava
2 cups blackberries, zest and juice of 1 lime
cover with water

boil until super mushy
strain, add sugar to juice and boil again until it sets on a frozen spoon or plate.

Leave 1/4 inch head space, and process in a water bath canner for 8 minutes.

Happy 10 Months Ethan Kekoa!

Sweet Baby Ethan ,

You're 10 months old already! Where did the time go?!?!

You have 4 teeth and 2 more that just came out!

You still don't crawl, but you scoot ALLLL over the house.

You still refuse to sleep through the night and get up 3-10 times. You still love your chi-chi milk.

Your doctor's appointments all went great this month!

You love eating table food, especially cheerios. You like to feed yourself, but REFUSE to hold your own bottle or sippy cup. LOL.

You babble a lot and like to talk in a sing song voice.

You love the cat!

You like to go places and see new things. Grandma and Grandpa went home this month and Nana came to visit.

The stacking rings are still some of your favorite toys, although you are starting to like trucks, and blacks, and you love to chew on the play kitchen stuff- especially the spoons.

You like to take baths and read books.

You've been to the pool twice (and in our kiddle pool a couple of times) and LOVED IT! You are a water baby for sure!

You just got your fourth haircut. Your hair color is kind of in-between your brother and sister's and it looks like it might turn out to be curly.

Your eyes still have a little blue, but it seems like they're turing brown.

You weigh about 17+ pounds. You wear size 3 diapers and size 9-12 month clothes.

Happy 10 months you handsome little love bug!

Sundays are for Portraits

I finally started dedicating a little time back to working on my photography. Now I really want an 85mm lens. LOL.

BUT, my wishlist is 100 miles long, and my paycheck is not so in the meantime, I'm going to work on my 50mm skills, because it is a beautiful lens!

Also, on Sundays we dress up for church and how can I not record a picture of these adorable little color coordinating monkeys :)

that background :) But too much direct light :)

Baby Ethan Bath Time!

I've been working on my portrait photography lately. Too bad my subjects are so wiggl-y. Hahaha. These came out pretty blurry, but still, is there anything sweeter than a babe taking a bath in the kitchen sink? No. There's not :)

DIY Floral Ice Cubes

Well, this is about the easiest craft ever.

We used mint and vinca from my flower pots, and then we foraged for some lantana in the gulch.
We have some nice square ice cube molds from Martha Stewart.

Pretty simple. Snip some greens and flowers, drop in the cube trays. Fill with water. Freeze overnight. Enjoy a cold, FANCY drink :)

have keiki add flowers to ice cube trays

fill with water and freeze overnight.

viola!  gorgeous floral ice cubes.
