Sally Hanson Miracle Gel Polish Review

This might be my newest OBSESSION! Waaaaaaaaaay better than Jamberry!

Here was day one. You just paint your nails with the polish (2 coats, but it actually dries super fast, like almost as fast as the Insta-Dry kind I normally buy) Then you do a final top coat with the black jar that goes on clear. All 3 coats took maybe 20 minutes at most, probably more like 10.

And the results after 7 days of swimming, hand SCRUBBING dishes, planting my garden, working in the field at work, excessive typing and normal household chores.  Virtually NO chips! I was seriously amazed!

And after 22 days it was mostly chipped off. But that's also because I was picking at it and my nail grew out.

Sophia's Preschool Grad Program

Our little tiny baby just finished her first year of preschool!!! How did this happen?!?!?!?

Flashback to her FIRST day of preschool:

Sophia technically didn't graduate because she's going back next year (but full time instead of only 1/2 the week- our checking account is already feelin' the pain- Haha) But they had a super cute ocean themed program and got certificates and walked across the stage.

Sophia's happy to be going back to All God's Children next year, and we're happy because she has awesome teachers and we love the message that a Christian School instills. BUT we were hoping for her to go to Pre-K since she's such a little smarty-pants. However, Pre-K isn't state funded in Hawaii, so there is a private school by our house that had free tuition because of fundraising BUT this year their Pre-K program got a federal grant, so now you have to be low income to qualify... like SUPER low...like below the poverty line low, so.....unless I quit my job, she can't go. Oh well.

I believe that kids should get to be kids, and too much forced structured learning is actually bad for them. Haha. There will be plenty of time to conform to someone else's rules later in life.  You know what Einstein says:

"It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education"

Copycat Starbucks Coffee Shop Toffeetastic Cookies

When we were on Oahu a few weeks ago, I got Starbucks cookies for breakfast one morning. I didn't even know they had a new kind!  Its called a ToffeeDoodle and they looked soooo good in the case I had to try one! Ever since I can't get them out of my head! I wanted to try to recreate them at home, but I didn't have all of the ingredients, so I settled on a Toffeetastic version that tastes JUST like something that would be served in a coffe shop. They're so good! Try the recipe below and I promise you'll love them!

In the meantime, I'm going to keep trying for the perfect copycat Starbucks ToffeeDoodle...and place an Amazon spice order ;)

Toffetastic Cookie Recipe
1 Cup Butter Flavor Crisco
2T Water
1 1/2 C Sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 vanilla bean
2 1/2 Cups flour
1 tsp Salt
1tsp Baking Soda
1 bag of Heath Baking Bits

Combine Crisco, water and sugar until smooth and creamy. Add eggs, vanilla, and vanilla bean guts.
Add dry ingredients. Add Heath Bits.

Cover and refrigerate 1 hour.

Use a 2" cookie scoop to shape them. Leave plenty of room, as they will expand/ flatten.

Preheat oven to 350. Bake for 10-12 minutes on a cookie sheet with a silicone mat.  DO NOT OVER BAKE. They will look a little underdone when you take then out. I did mine for 11:20 and they got a little crunchy. 10 minutes is recommended.

Makes 34 cookies.

Waikiki Aquarium

The Waikiki Aquarium might have been the best thing we did on our Oahu trip. It was cheap. It was air conditioned and it kept our two toddlers entertained for what could have been hours! It was also really interesting, and informative. The indoor tanks are set up so beautifully!
