Lucky we live Molokai

Today I had a long meeting with a coworker on the mainland. Blah blah the conversation eventually led to "so you really like living/working on Molokai and you really don't want to move back to the mainland?"

Hell no, I wouldn't rather live on the mainland!! Are you kidding?!?

Haha. That being said, maybe I'm a weirdo, but I seriously live living here. Sometimes it takes talking to a stranger to remind me of that... I find myself unconsciously bragging about our empty beaches, uninterrupted scenery and the insane diversity between east west and mountain.

it's the perfect place to raise kids and living here reminds you every. Single. Day. Of what's really important in life.

Or how there's some sort of hard to explain independent spirit that just exists in everyone here.

Or how it's just old school. In so many ways.

Or how we walk our dog to the world's highest sea cliffs- you could travel every inch of the WHOLE WORLD and you would never find higher sea cliffs. THAT'S AMAZING! Haha etc etc. I could go on and on blabbing for hours.

i would have been very hesitant to say this before since my heart always belonged to sandrock hill in Big Spring, MO ;) But I really think I live in the most beautiful place in earth.

Well, what a lame sappy emotional post. Hahahaha! Feel free to make fun of me, but sometimes ya gotta just put out there how you feel. Which I could have just summed up in 4 words... Lucky we live Molokai.

Christmas 2014

This year marked Baby Michael's first Christmas and our  First Christmas in our own house. We were so busy with work and everything else going on that I'm not sure we fully understood, but this was a really REALLY big year for us. We're grown up homeowners with two kids. Ahhhh! How did that happen???
Santa and the reindeer ate their snacks

Mac got up at the crack of dawn
Destroyed baby Jesus' birthday cake

and was still really tired...
Meanwhile, many presents waited under the tree

and this little angel slept peacefully

then this guy tried to open everything before his sister got up

Finally Sophia got up and opened her one gift from Mommy and Daddy. A cooking set for cooking real food with mommy.
We had a LONG day. Sophia wanted to play with every single thing she got immediately after she opened it. I guess that's good, because she wasn't greedy at all. She would open a present and we would say "ok, do you want to open another one?" She would reply "no, I like this one" LOL. Looks like Santa should have just brought her one thing :) Less really is more, I guess.

I tried to get a picture of them by the tree, but it's really hard with TWO mobile kids.

Always on the move.

As Sophia now tells me "good enough"

and more presents!
Taking her time, playing with everything...

Reading a new book with Daddy

Danny got me a fancy hat :)

and more presents. Awesome Grandmas think alike!

Poor Mac and his teeth :(

Feeling a little better after some OraGel

Handsome little man drinking his pretend milk

Sophia wearing her "Christmas pants"  and new bow and looking at her new letter flashcards

Santa left notes on the presents (mostly about sharing)

Sticking ALL THE STICKERS to my floor. Sigh.

One lucky lady

New Princess Dolls

We made vermicelli bowls for Christmas Dinner. The only fish sauce I could find on this island was Patis, and my limes weren't exactly what I would describe as 'ripe' But they still tasted good. Next time I might add a little more sugar to my fish sauce. The best part about Christmas Dinner, which is also last year's best part, although they were completely opposite meals... At least a portion of the ingredients were FRESH from our own garden...Picked by Sophia and Mommy that day :)

Sophia had her very own

Cilantro, Basil, Carrot and some lettuce from our garden. Cucumber, chives, rest of lettuce from our Kumu box, and everything else from Friendly Market/Misakis.

Sophia Approved

And so did Danny. LOL
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!!

Christmas Eve 2014

This year we may have had the perfect Christmas Eve (except for the fact that we still missed our families)

I made an array of delicious foods, and we met our friends at the beach for an afternoon of sand and SUN, which was surprising, because it's been cold and rainy all week.

Lilikoi Peach Raspberry Sangria. (recipe will be in a later post...it was AMAZING)
Pickle Wraps, just like my Aunt Cathy makes

Creamy Chicken Enchilada Rollups (Pinterest)

Chips and Queso

Some scenes from our drive to the beach, just because it is so unique and pretty, I know a lot of times I'm on my phone or reading a magazine or whatever in the car, but I shouldn't because look how cool the view is:

A girl and her dog. Both had the best day playing in the water and the sand!

Michael Agapito is teething hardcore. Funny story, this weekend we discovered that this kid only responds well to "Michael Agapito" not Mike, Mikey, Mac, Baby Boo, Boo Boo or any of the other 100million things we call him...If you want this boy to look at you and grin, you better address him as Michael Agapito.

Public Right of Way Beach with view of Lanai

Dora the explorer

Swiss Family Robinson?

I'm attempting to learn all of the manual settings on our camera, then maybe someday Daniel will give in and buy me a DSLR, Haha.

She wasn't very into the sand writing. She vastly preferred hitting things with that stick :(

WE built a sand castle, but Penny kept walking through it, laying on it, and knocking it down :(

We dug a hole and Sophia asked me "Mom, can I live in there" I said "It's kind of small for a house, how about it's a car" She said "It IS a car mom, I'm driving to Pizza Cafe"

Christmas DIY pedi, with the cheap CVS nail stickers, but I LOVE it!

It was a seriously beautiful day

Penny looking majestic amongst all the kid toys
Blurry, but oh, to be two and a half!

we're growing out her bangs

Flowers in the church parking lot, we were right on time, so I didn't get any family pics or even pics of the kids in their cute dress up clothes. Michael even wore a baby suit, it was adorable!
Cell phone snaps right before mass. I bought Sophia two dresses on black Friday, because Target had them both for $8 and I thought I could return whichever one she didn't like. Well, we cut the tags off of the OTHER one (a poofy, red, sparkly, glitter, satin bow monstrosity that she LOVED "mom, this is a princess dress, I'm a princess, I Love this one" etc.) Well, as we're getting ready to go out the door and leave for church, a Sophia meltdown started because she didn't like that dress anymore and it was itchy...Uugh. we were going to be late, so rather than fight that battle, Sophia won, and she wore the other dress, which is what's pictured above. Sigh. KIDS!
Putting out treats for Santa and the reindeer

Sophia ate Santa's first cookie...Then left him one more, insiting that he only wanted one, and he didn't want milk... She also left him a note that supposedly says "I love you"
Merry Christmas Eve Everyone!
