Livin like a 1%er

Last weekend we took a girls trip to Maui. It was crazy! It's the first time I've ever flown to Maui, and it was LIFECHANGING. Ok, that may be a little dramatic, but it was amazing. It's been raining on the mountain, so there were waterfalls galore! And with so many of us flying Mokulele together it totally felt like a private plane. Haha.

I got my ears pierced!!! Yes, I'm probably the only person in America that waited until the age of 29 to get their ears pierced. (Just in time for 30th bday earrings???)

We ate, shopped, got our nails and hair done, and hung out at the pool. We stayed at the Grand Wailea?

The only bad part was missing my husband and kids (which I did miss them a lot) and having to pump:( :(

Other than that, I wish I could live like a millionaire every day!!!

Make Horse Beach with Auntie Anna

Auntie Anna is back home, and we're all sad, but I thought I would share our pics from last Tuesday evening's trip to Make Horse (3rd Hole) and Nude Beach.

The new sink!!!

It was a long evening yesterday, but our new sink is in! Granted it is installed in a plywood countertop since we can't afford to redo our whole kitchen right now... But still. It's so shiny!!!!!!

Our crappy, leaking, lime scale, scratched, dented, beat up, nasty old sink and faucet.

Beautiful, bright, shiny and new sink and faucet.

It's amazing what a difference it makes!

We ended up getting the faucet I was dying for, it's a Kohler revival.

And the sink is toccata, also by Kohler. We really went back and forth about getting a farmhouse sink, but they're so expensive, and it just didn't fit with the plywood. Haha. We also thought about getting an under mount, but I just wasn't sure that it wouldn't go out of style. So we got this one, and I'm sure it will be great.

STL Style Pizza

Haha. As we all know, STL style pizza may in fact be the best food on earth. After we dropped Anna off at the airport tonight, I thought we needed a quick dinner to remind us of the homeland. lol.

So the crust, (that's what makes it) modified recipe from Pinterest

21/4 Cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp vegetable oil
2 tsp dark corn syrup
1/2 cup water + more water to get dough to desired consistency (about 2-3 TBS more)

Preheat Oven to 450!

Mix dough in kitchen Aid

Roll Out SUPER thin!Make sure to grease baking sheets/stones AND liberally flour dough. Since it's so thin, it WILL stick.

Add sauce. We love the canned Ragu kind, or sometimes we make our own,
1 cup-ish tomato sauce
2-3 TBS tomato paste
fresh basil
pinch salt
1 TBS sugar (scant)
pinch thyme
pinch oregano (fresh if you've got it)

Add topping and bake for 10-12 minutes.

The secret is really in the cheese. your best bet is to have a friend or relative from STL stuff their suitcase full of Provel (available at Dierbergs Grocery Stores) and bring it to you on their next visit. As a backup, you can use a mix of provolone, swiss, and a little cheddar. if any of the varieties are smoked, it will make it all the better.

We made a "Hawaiian" which by the way, no one here calls it that or is particularily fond of it. And one regular canadian bacon. Only because Misaki's had Canadian Bacon in the bulk fridge and I had never seen it there before, so my brain was like "Hey Jill, you better buy that or you may never have the opportunity to ever again"

Finished Product

St. Louis Style Thin Crust Pizza

Warning, if you live within driving distance of an IMOs, do not, i repeat, do not, attempt to make this pizza at home. It's good, but it's neither quick, cheap, or easy. Just go to Imo's and buy a pizza, scarf it down and say a small prayer for those of us who are not fortunate enough to do the same.
