Oahu Trip Day Two

It's been a busy week with Daniel working on Maui and me having the kids by myself all week. So, without further ado, here's to catching up on the last leg of our Oahu trip from last weekend:

These sophisticated little monkeys had breakfast on the lanai at Ala Moana.

We went to Pho 777 for lunch and Sophia declared it to be "the best day ever" because she got to eat those sweet pickled carrots. 😂 Crazy girl!

And she took many selfies.

We walked around the mall in the morning which was a DISASTER with two small tired children. Then made our way to Ward Center.

Sophia was really confused as to why we had to wait in line and asked "where's the TV"

But both kids were really well behaved all through "Finding Dory". It was a cute movie. And it's the first time out kids have ever seen or heard of such a place as a movie theatre, let alone seen a move in one! Crazy!!! They didn't even know such a thing existed!

After that we went to Chinatown and a strip mall to get some food to bring home, because, balance. And then had the most unorganized trip(s) through TSA ever. Haha. Thank God the guy was nice bc we literally went through security 5 times because amongst other things, Sophia had to pee, Daniel forgot the sunscreen, and his knife and Michael is a cling-on. SO, also lucky the Molulele lady was super chill about shoving all our crap into our checked bags for us.

Then the flight home was pretty rough. Rain, clouds, and I swear lightening....on a Mokulele plane...but as usual, everything was fine.

We all made it home, safe and sound and tired as can be.

Then that's it! We spent what was left of our weekend playing in the pool and working in our never ending forest of a yard.

Hope everyone else had a great weekend  too!

Baby Number 3: 29 Week Update

Whoa! Monday marked 29 Weeks!!!

Where did the time go?!?!? I had a midwife appointment last week and they confirmed that this little one is definitely breech. I know, I know, I’m only 29 weeks, so in medical theory, this baby has time to flip his little butt over. BUT, both Michael and Sophia were head down and stayed put by this point. AND a while ago when he was sideways, it hurt so bad! Despite what modern medicine says, I don’t think there’s a whole lot of room in there for someone to be doing summersaults!!!

Other than being breech this kid seems ok. I still feel like he’s way less active that either of my other two were, and it freaks me out! I really worry that something is wrong. But, I think constant worry is just part of being a mom.

I’m doing ok, lots of heartburn, but probably not quite as bad as it was with Michael. Way worse than it was with Sophia. Lots of trouble sleeping. A little hip/ pelvis pain, but only when I sleep in our terrible bed. Seriously, this thing mattress conglomeration the worst! I definitely prefer the guest bedroom or couch. That's sad.

I weigh 150 pounds, so up 22 from my starting weight. the midwife said my belly is measuring a little big, but probably because it’s been stretched out twice already. I’ve been slacking on exercise and that makes all my symptoms SOOOOOOoooooooooo much worse.

I can’t believe we’re only 10-11 weeks away from meeting this guy!!! That’s so crazy!!!

German Chocolate Pie

One of my main pregnancy cravings this time around has definitely been German food. Go figure?!?!? I recently indulged this little one with a homemade German Chocolate Pie.

This is a decent recipe for German Chocolate Pie, very close to the one they used to (and maybe still do???) serve at the German Restaurant I worked at while I was in high school.

The german chocolate pie recipe is written out below, but here are the steps:

1. Make a pie crust.

2. Melt together some chocolate and butter. take it off the stove
and add a can of evaporated milk.

3. Add sugar flour, salt, cornstarch, eggs and vanilla and pour into pie shell.

4. Top with a bunch o' coconut and pecans

5. Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes. Until set.

1 unbaked pie crust

1/2 bag dark chocolate chips
1/4 C butter
1 can evaporsated milk
1.5 C sugar
2 TBS cornstarch
1 TBS flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2 Cups (ish) coconut flakes
1.5 cup (ish) chopped pecans

Bake at 375 for 30-45 min.

Some people like this hot (wierdos) because its best served cold or room temp with coffee or ice cream (the better choice)

Oahu Dermatologist Trip

We're off to Oahu again, this time for dermatologist appointments. Our doctor had some sort of medical emergency and hasn't been practicing for the last year(???) maybe. We were going to refer to someone else on Maui finally, but they called last month and said he's back, so I'm sure he lost many patients already and he was really good, so we decided to go anyway.

Our flight left at 7:45 which was early for our little buggahs! We had to leave our house before 7. We flew Makani Kai which was really nice! As usual, the kids say bye to Uncle Korpi as we fly by the tower, regardless of weather he's actually working thy day or not. Haha.

We got to sit in the very front, and it was a really nice day to fly. Molokai is gorgeous from the air!!!

We got to swoop in a circle over the south shore before heading northwest to Oahu, so that was really cool.
Even after 5 years of living here it still never ceases to amaze me how INSANE it is that Oahu is 20some miles away, and yet it's like 2 different worlds, or countries, or times or something!!!! It's still so crazy to me.

South shore Molokai vs. south shore Oahu

The one bad thing about flying Makani Kai is getting to the rental car. They don't have a shuttle anymore, so we had to take a cab TO our car. 😑 then we stopped at McDonalds for a quick breakfast and went to Queens for our appointments. A classic parking garage photo:

After that we headed to Target, where I, unfortunately, blew all our money... Then we dropped off some stuff at the PEM shop and went to Dairy Queen in Pearl City. Heaven on Earth! Haha. a pregnant Midwesterner from Molokai anyway...

After that we checked in to our hotel and these knuckleheads played in the pool for a little bit while I walked around the mall and bought a year's supply of truck air fresheners and scented candles. Haha! Who does that?!?!? This pregnancy is making me crazy! 😂

More Oahu madness to come tomorrow!

They both refuse to look at the camera, they both refuse to smile at the same time.

But at least they love each other :)

Stitch Fix 2.6

I changed my Stitch Fix to quarterly. And this quarter went ok. I think despite being preggo, a lot of what I received this time were too big. Daniel is out of town all week, so rather than dealing with the self timer, I just put some pictures of the clothes, not of me wearing them.

Opening my Stitch Fix
What's in the box!?!?!?
Brixon Ivy Diaz Crochet Detail Top
It was nice, and totally my style and I love the lace and embroidery, but the color was just too dark for how I've been feeling lately. I only want light, bright and airy things in my life. Also, it's hard to tell from the picture, but the sleeves are puffy, which made it super unflattering on my figure.

Market & Spruce Alma Maternity Knit Top
It was ok, but it was a heavy weight (read too hot for summer in Hawaii, and it was actually too big, despite being a medium. Also, I'm not a fan of side ruching or heathering. BUT I will say that I liked the length.

Collective Concepts Benjamin Kimono
Ummmm, what?? No. Too dark , too short, too busy.

Loveappella Carlita Knit Maternity Maxi Dress
Perhaps you recognize this from my 26 week photo. It was ok, but again, too dark and too busy for me to ever wear again.

Toms Lexie Woven Sandal

I actually loved these. They're my style. An 8.5 fit perfectly, they fit around my fat cankles, they go with everything.

Overall Stitch Fix is still a fun experience. I love getting suprises in every box and its super cool for those of us who only get to go to an actual shopping mall 2-3 times per year. GAH!

If anyone is interested in trying Stitch Fix, here's a referral link.

Baby Number 3: 28 Weeks Pregnancy Update

Yesterday marked 28 weeks! In the third trimester now!!!

maternity photo, bump style, pregnancy style, 28 weeks

Baby is sideways, so really stretching out my tummy and kicking me right in the bladder! I've been slacking on my exercise this week, and I thought it was fine to give myself a break because 1. I'm in the third trimester now 2. With someone being crammed in there sideways, feet down, it's really hard not to pee every 10 seconds 3. I've been really 'active' lately with housework, yard work, etc.

BUT this has been the worst week! I feel terrible, all my crappy symptoms came back. I'm exhausted, but I can't sleep. I have heartburn, I can't breathe, and I swear I've developed restless leg syndrome only in my right leg.

I'm sure it doesn't help that my lovely job has been extra stressful lately, But what can you do?

I'm up to around 150 pounds, which isn't bad, and the ONLY reason I'm trying to keep my weight in check is because I'm planning on another natural birth and I just can't do it if this kid is any bigger than Michael- not to be dramatic, but I'm pretty sure I'll die.

Baby is estimated at around 2 pounds, finally being a little more active, but still not nearly as much so as Sophia or Michael, so hopefully that's a sign of a calm child finally, and not a sign that something is wrong.

Luckily i finally got back to my yoga challenge today and I already feel a lot better. Hopefully I can sleep better tonight!

Monday, June 20, 2016

Over here in Coombsville I've been seriously slacking on blogging. I wish I could say I have a good excuse, but I don't. I've just been slacking at everything these past 5 days. I skipped my workouts (but have been super busy with the yard/housework) and I've had to double, triple, quadruple up on the asanas from my yoga challenge.

But I am in the third trimester now, so I'm cutting myself some slack. A whole hell of a lot of slack.

I'll do my baby update tomorrow because I've been way to lazy to take a pretty picture. BUT I did take some pictures of other pretty stuff...Like my BLOOMING PLUMERIAS From my own YARD!!!!!!

White AND pink! And they smell amazing!

I'm not the only pregnant lady around here. Haha!

These lovely ladies made halo halo. They're da best!

And because I'm too tired to even take one photo for a blog post, I somehow thought it would be a good idea to buy two island style couches to refurbish. Bad choices all around. 😂

Well, I actually have 100 thousand more interesting pictures and things to post about, but I'm tired. So I'm going to sleep instead. And yes, it's only 8pm :)
