Friday Favorites

I thought I'd join in and share all my favorite things from this week.

These dishes I bought on Etsy for my Valentine's table finally arrived... Don't tell Daniel. 🤣

We got lots of oranges from our super nice neighbor!

Sophia came to work with me one day.

Kim gave us some cookies.

Michael. Nuff said.

This girl.

We got matching leggings! Again- don't tell Daniel. 🤣🤣

My orchid is STILL blooming!

And world's crabbiness baby took a two second break from fussing to give us a smile!

Thursday Thoughts

I generally do not enjoy Thursdays.

I also can't wait for Ethan to eat solid food...only because I have a job. Let's face it, breastfeeding is soooooo much easier than feeding a baby real food. However, pumping is pretty much the worst thing on earth.

I wrote an email today that I probably wish I could take back. I used to do this so often that I literally put a send delay on my outbox. But also a lot of times I'm pretty unapologetic because I'm only speaking the truth. But sometimes I should really work on message delivery.

Another thing I've learned in my 32 years of life: Lava Flows and Taro French Toast make any day better-even Thursday.

Chicken and Dumplings

It was really cold last week, so I wanted to make something warm and hearty but not the usual. Enter chicken and dumplings.  The meal planning conversation went a little something like this:

Jill: Hey babe, do you want me to make chicken and dumplings?
Daniel: meh, whatever you want...
Michael: No! I make dem in my MOM's kitchen.
Sophia: Ewwwwww!!! no! I don't like that!
Ethan: (coos adorably)

As the week went on, Sophia continued to profess her undying hatred for this dish that I don't think I had ever actually made since before her time of enjoying solid foods.

Fast forward to today:
Sophia: Mom, I'm hunnnnngry
Jill: Ok, I'm making dinner.
Jill: Yes, dinner. Go Play!
Sophia: What is that?
Sophia: I don't like that.
Sophia: I don't want  that.
Sophia: Can I eat something else?

Finally set the table and sit down for dinner.
Sophia: (quietly chewing)
Sophia: What's this?
Jill: A dumpling
Sophia: Whats this?
Jill: Chicken....
Sophia: I LOVE this chicken and dumplings, and I like the chicken and I like the dumplings and I like the carrots and I like the peas and I like the dumplings. I really like the dumplings.
Sophia: Can I have more?
Sophia: Well, orange chicken and rice is my favorite, but chicken and dumplings is my other favorite.

1 T butter
3 chicken breasts
1 Onion
1/4 thing of celery
1/2 C baby carrots
1/4 tsp salt
4 TBS flour
1/4 C white wine
5 cups Water
4 bullion cubes
1 C Milk
1/4 tsp thyme
2 tsp tarragon
4 bay leaves
1 can peas

2 C flour
1T baking powder
1 tsp salt
3 TBS butter
1 C milk

Sautee veggies. Cook chicken. remove chicken, the the rest of the stuff to make a nice hot soup.
Mix up the dumplings- drop them in as big or as small as you like. Shred the chicken while the dumplings boil in the soup for about 10-15 min. Return the chicken, stir and serve!

Valentine's Decor 2017

I love holidays! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE! Valentine's day included.

I thought about taking the deer head down, but...I didn't.

Sophia wanted to be in all the pictures.

and Micahel does EVRYTHING Sophia does.

I left the blue this year to go with the red and pink. I really like it!

I wish Molokai had a Target. LOL!

Recycled banner from several years ago.

These sun-catchers are also a billion years old and probably contain lead.

Sophia made "Valentine's World" with the window clings.

My phaleonopsis is still blooming!

Valentines 😍😍😍😍

Heart Garland from the last post. Make ya some!

The makings of a dinner game :)

DIY Valentine's Day Garland

I've veen seeing these felt garlands ALL OVER Pinterest, and I decided today was the perfect day to make one! (or two- or if Ethan was less crabby, three or four or eighty! I love them!)

Start with some felt, cut some strips the width you want your hearts to be.

I folded my strips in half then free handed some hearts.

Then you just sew them together- easy peasy.

TA-DA Easy DIY Valentine's Day Garland!

Then I made another one with smaller hearts and circles in between each one.

I can not take credit for this idea in anyway, I just copied the 100's of tutorials I saw on Pinterest and made it my own with colors and such. My favorite inspiration came from this blog however, Isn't it gorgeous!?!?
